John Hansel

Profile: Born in 1972, John has been a PGA Professional since 1989 and in 2005 was awarded the title of Fellow of the PGA. John has excelled in all areas of the golfing environment including; private members clubs, hotel golf complexes & large retail/coaching facilities.
John lives in Bristol with his partner Rebecca, and their two sons Dominic & Joseph.
Area of Responsibility: All aspects of Golf at Bowood, including; golf market development, membership, tuition, retail and the driving range.

Paul McLean
– PGA Teaching Professional & Retail Manager
Profile: Paul McLean has been a professional for eight years , gaining P.G.A. Class AA membership status in 2001. Currently a PGA Teaching Professional and retail manager to John Hansel, Paul coaches all levels of golfer from beginner to professional.

Paul is also a Young Masters Golf coaching professional, responsible for implementing and delivering a professionally structured junior coaching programme.

Career: Paul, originally from Middlesborough, joined Bowood after spending his days as an amateur golfer in Bahrain in the Middle East. Winner of a number of events in Bahrain, Paul is a regular player in the PGA West Region events and Pro Ams. Paul has also competed in tournaments internationally in places such as California, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain.
Nick Brennan
-Assistant Professional
Profile: Born in 1982. Originally from Ireland, Nick now lives in Chippenham.
Area of Responsibility: Nicks responsibilities include working in the Pro Shop, meeting & greeting members & visitors and teaching golf to groups and individuals.
Career: Nick is a golf professional and graduated in 2005 with a BA Honours Degree from the University of Birmingham.

Nick played golf from an early age and reached a handicap of +2 as an amateur. He has travelled widely and has played much of his golf in Africa.

Nick’s previous experience includes working as an Assistant Professional at Elm Park Golf Club, Dublin and as a Teaching Professional at Hambrook Golf Range in Bristol.

Nick is qualified as a Junior Golf Leader and a Tri-Golf Activator
Other Info: Nick is delighted to have joined the progressive team at Bowood. He sees this as a wonderful opportunity and is keen to help as many golfers as possible reach their potential.
Nick is also keen to establish himself as a winner on the West Region PGA circuit.
Christine Langford
- WPGA Teaching Professional
Profile: Christine Langford enjoys a special relationship with Bowood Golf and Country Club, running a number of Golf Schools at the club.
Area of Responsibility: • Teaching Professional
Career: Christine Langford is enjoying her 28th year as a golf professional. She has competed as a tournament professional on all the major golf tours worldwide, winning 5 major tournaments. She now uses her immense experience and knowledge of golf to organise and host an impressive selection of tuition and golf events.

Simon Shanks
- Senior PGA Teaching Professional
Profile: Born in 1980 Simon lives in Warminster with fiancée Sarah
Area of Responsibility: Teaching Professional with responsibility for corporate clinics, group coaching and individual lessons.
Career: Simon is a Golf Foundation Tri Golf Leader and a Golf Passport Starter Professional.
In his previous job at Kingsdown Golf Club Simon was responsible for individual and group teaching for the Senior, Ladies and Junior sections.
Other previous experience also includes Teaching Professional at Combe Grove Manor Hotel and Country Club nr Bath.
Simon has enjoyed success playing on the West Region PGA Circuit and is also Secretary for the Wiltshire PGA.
